Description

Highly digestible alfalfa with lower lignin. Lignin is the organic compound that hardens and strengthens the plant’s cell wall. Lignin increases yield, but negatively affects forage quality and interferes with animal digestion.   Hi-Gest still offers the high yield and a 7-10% reduction in total plant lignin, compared to conventional alfalfa. This increases fiber digestion which improves the animal intake and raises crude protein by 3-5%. Deer love this stuff and run to it.

Planting:

• Plant up to ¼” inch deep
• Spring into early fall
• Drill 18-20 lbs per acre
• Broadcast 20-22 lbs per acre
• pH: 6.5-7.5

Soil Type Preference: Heavy, well or moderately drained
